HOPE FOR

THE SEA

Aarhus / June 2026 -

BLUE VOICES – A Poetic Atlas of the Sea

On June 17, 2026, BLUE VOICES was invited to contribute to Hope for the Sea in Aarhus, Denmark.

The event brought together researchers, divers, environmental advocates, politicians and citizens for an evening focused on the state of the Danish marine environment and the possibilities for restoration and renewal.

As part of the programme, a curated excerpt from BLUE VOICES – A Poetic Atlas of the Sea was presented, featuring selected voice portraits from the ongoing atlas.

The contribution explored how listening, memory, lived experience and storytelling can complement scientific knowledge and open new ways of relating to the sea.

The event was organised by Torsten Gejl and held at Sager der Samler, Aarhus.

A Poetic Atlas of the Sea

Guest Lecture / University of Copenhagen / April 2026

As part of the course “Big Blue Nordic: The Sea and the Coast in Nordic Literature” at the University of Copenhagen, Veronica Civa / HAVLAND was invited to give a guest lecture on April 21, 2026.

The presentation introduced selected methods, reflections and voice excerpts from the upcoming installation BLUE VOICES – A Poetic Atlas of the Sea and explored how artistic and spatial practices might open new ways of relating to the sea beyond analytical and theoretical frameworks.

The session combined a short lecture with dialogue and participatory exercises centred around listening, voice, sensing and lived experience.

DESIGNING WITH

THE SEA

POLITECNICO

DI MILANO

March 2026 - Lecture

A lecture exploring how coastal protection can be rethought as living landscapes rather than technical infrastructure.

Marine ecosystems such as eelgrass meadows, stone reefs, and wetlands are approached as integral elements of coastal design,
functioning simultaneously as storm surge protection, biodiversity, and public space.

Grounded in the dynamics of the Øresund strait,
the work points towards an approach that designs with the sea, rather than against it.
